About Khaled Fouad

Hello, my name is Khaled Fouad. I’m a professional photographer living in the beautiful Ojai Valley. Photography is my calling, my profession, and what I truly obsess about from the instant I open my eyes and brew my first of many cups of coffee to the moment I finally rest my head—just kidding! Rest my head? Who needs sleep anyways! I don’t just photograph subjects and objects; I photograph them with pure quality and passion. I love the magic of photography and how a photograph can trigger our emotions. It amazes me how one can tell a lot about a place, object, or person’s personality by just looking at a photograph.

I was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, to a half German father and an American mother. I was lucky enough to have picked up my father’s old Yashica 35mm film camera (which I still own and use) at a young age and fell head over heels for photography. After graduating High-school, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my passion for photography.

I enjoy traveling, shooting personal projects, spending long hours in the darkroom and on Photoshop developing, retouching, and printing. Black and white film photography highly influenced my style in digital photography. I challenge every photograph I take to produce work that reflects quality, hard-work and finesse.

Okay! Well now, If that’s all you’ll ever know about me, it’s enough to say you know me very, very well.

I met Guy Webster in 2016 through a network of family and friends who wanted to introduce us due to our mutual love for photography and motorcycles. I always looked up to the photography gods, but not only did I never think I’d meet one but better yet be mentored by one; oh boy, was I wrong. I remember meeting Guy in Ojai for the first time at the local coffee shop, No So (now known as Love Cafe). He would get his coffee and breakfast there almost every morning and share stories from his lifelong photography career.

For some of you who may not know, Guy Webster is one of the early innovators of rock-and-roll and celebrity photography. The list of iconic figures Guy photographed literally goes on for miles and miles. That list includes album covers for The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Mamas, and the Papas, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, Taj Mahal, and Chicago, as well as icons like Dean Martin, Rita Hayworth, Igor Stravinski, Stevie Nicks, Jack Nicholson, Candice Bergen, and Ted Danson. The guy literally photographed everyone!

Over the years, I helped Guy with his photoshoots and managed his career-long archive of photos. He might not realize it but he gave me so much and made me fall even deeper in love with photography (not sure how since I already was obsessed with photography). I looked up to Guy like a father figure and respected him as one of the photography greats.

Guy passed away in early 2019. It was very difficult to see him go. I’ll miss our weekly fun times in the studio chuckling, telling crazy stories, and coming up with concepts for upcoming projects (and laughing at how ridiculous they sounded).  I’m going to miss his jokes, smile, and passion for what he did. I’ll always remember the last thing he said to me before I walked out of his room all teared up “The secret to being Guy Webster is DO THE WORK, I love you KHHH-aled”. I’ll do the work Guy, I promise you I’ll do the work. Till then, ride the fastest bikes, take the most beautiful pictures and watch over me and enjoy the show.
